Q: What do you mean by “turn-key” solution?
A: Parvus provides all of the necessary hardware, software, airtime, support services, training, installation, and customer 1-800 support to make your Wi-Fi project a success.
Q: Why don’t you use an Aircard® like consumer cellular/Wi-Fi products?
A: Parvus’ core business is designing mobile communications solutions that are appropriate for the mobile environment. Parvus chooses to use internal, rugged modems which are rated for the temperature and vibration extremes seen in mobile applications.
Q: What cellular carrier do you use?
A: Parvus’ preferred carrier is Sprint; however, Parvus carries the cellular contracts so we have flexibility on the terms that we can offer our customers (a 2 year contract is not mandatory).
Q: How do I know if the system is working?
A: Parvus provides all customers with access to the web-based RiderNet Live tool. This tool shows real-time status of the RiderNet 3 units including up/down status, GPS location, historical Wi-Fi usage reports, and signal strength. In addition, Parvus monitors all units from our Support center and can troubleshoot remotely as needed.
Q: What frequency ranges are used?
- Cellular: PCS Band: 1900 MHz
- Wi-Fi/802.11: 2.4Ghz
- GPS: 1575.42 MHz
Q: Where should the antennas be installed?
A: The roof-mount antenna should be installed on top of the vehicle, at least 1 ft from other antennas. The internal patch antenna should be installed near the front of the vehicle, mounted so every passenger would be able to see the antenna from their seat. This way, every passenger would be able to receive a good wireless signal.
Q: Does RiderNet 3 support ignition sense power-on?
A: Yes, the power input cable has two leads, one for a constant power input (10-30V), the other for an ignition power input (12V). Both inputs must receive the appropriate power levels in order for the unit to power on.
Q: What is the typical power consumption?
A: Typically, an active RiderNet 3 unit runs on 12 V DC at 0.4 amp = 4.8 W
